I know I shouldn't mess around with my "formula" too much, but I tried something a bit different for this photo and am not certain whether it was a success or failure. Most likely, it was a little of both.
Specifically, I composed and captured this photo in the 16:9 format instead of the 16:10 format I have been working with for the past few months. For various technical reasons, photographing using a 16:9 format is quite a bit easier -- among other things, I can accurately see my compositions before I capture them, which is always helpful ... lol -- but from an artistic perspective, I have always found the final, finished photos have a bit too much of a panoramic feel to them.
Mind you, I'm not anti-panorama -- for the right subject, a panoramic treatment works great! -- but not every scene I photograph lends itself well to this format. That said, in this neighborhood, comprised of large, wide, mostly single-story houses situated on generously sized lots, it does seem to work quite well, as I believe was the case here.
