Holiday lights...

The streetlight across the street from this scene is in the process of being replaced, which means there's a lot less light than usual falling on this house and yard.

I really liked the eerie mood this created and tried to photograph it, but I'm afraid the exposure range of my camera is not wide enough such that it can capture it using just a single exposure.

Because I'm constitutionally unable to do HDR photography, I erred on the side of overexposure and ended up with this photo, in which the holiday lights strung over the bushes across the street look as if they're part of a California wildfire or the stage decorations at a KKK rally.

Although this isn't the photo I'd hoped to take, I find it visually interesting regardless of its technical shortcomings and I hope you will as well!
