And now for something completely different...

I am dealing with some sleep issues at the moment -- specifically, a lack thereof -- and to that end, one of things that has been recommended to me is to sleep on a more regular schedule than I have been of late. As you might expect, late-night photography and healthy sleep habits are generally incompatible with each other.

Plus, truth be told, I have also become a teeny, tiny bit bored with my nighttime photography. For a time, infrared photography proved an interesting wrinkle, but now that it's also become familiar to me, that thrill is largely gone, too.

Taken together, it seems the best way for me to deal with this is to put my nighttime photography aside for a bit.

Instead, now that the summer heat appears to be on its way out -- this morning, it was a chilly 60 degrees in my backyard! -- I'm going to resume walking Miss Abby during the day and take some casual photos while we're out and about, instead of lugging around a tripod and one of my FrankenKameras trying to do (cough, choke) serious art.

Such as this photo of Miss Abby, which I took (handheld, using a compact, fixed-lens, 24 MP camera) during a walk earlier today.

I expect I will return to posting photos of my nighttime urban and suburban explorations within a couple of weeks, so if casual snapshots and dog portraits aren't your thing, please do feel free to take a break for a while, too! 8^)

P.S.: Miss Abby has a photo-blog and most of my photos of her will be posted there:
