This photo was taken earlier this week, just a few minutes before 5:00 am. By this time, the sun was very near the horizon, as civil twilight occurred at 5:06 am that morning.

I initially attributed the unusual color balance to an abundance of IR light, but I have since discovered it was due to my accidentally changing the camera's white balance from the custom setting I usually use to automatic ... oops!

Also, the bright light source outside the left of the frame is not the sun, but the array of security lights mounted on the house next door, which I triggered when I walked past the house in the street and not on the sidewalk! A while back, I stumbled and fell while I was walking on a sidewalk where it sloped downward as it ran through a driveway. This happened because I was scouting my next photo and not paying enough attention to where I was placing my feet, so I wasn't prepared for an unexpected drop of a few inches. Lesson learned, though, and to avoid a repeat of this experience, I now walk in the street instead ... problem solved!
