I went outside to fetch the newspaper and saw the sun was just starting to change the color of the sky. So I went back inside, grabbed my camera (which was conveniently next to the front door), then walked to the end of the cul-de-sac with Miss Abby, where I took this photo.
It's nothing special, of course, but for a variety of reasons (ranging from modifying my camera -- again!* -- to the weather, because high ambient temps make for lousy long-exposure photos), I haven't done a lot of photography since I returned from The Palouse last month. So it was good to at least go through the motions again, even if it was only for one photo.
In a few more weeks, the temperatures will start dropping again and I'll resume my schedule of doing photo outings a minimum of twice each week. Unfortunately, a lack of funding caused me to put my astrophotography camera project on hold (because I refuse to fund a hobby via an early withdrawal from my retirement savings!), but I hope to have it finished and functioning by the time next summer rolls around. Here's hoping, anyway!
* In case you're curious, I upgraded from an HDMI monitor with a 7" screen to one with a 12.5" screen: https://i.imgur.com/aLPGfR6.jpg In addition to being both physically larger and heavier, which required me to fabricate a new mounting bracket, as well as devise a new mounting scheme (because I could no longer simply mount it to the camera body via the tripod hole), I also had to increase the battery capacity to accommodate its increased power consumption, etc. Needless to say, one thing lead to many others, as always seems to be the case with this (apparently!) endless project. But my camera is working again, so it's all good ... for now, anyway, as I've recently had an idea for yet another improvement I can make. 8^)
