Location: New York city
So there I was, sitting on a bench at Columbus Circle, taking a brief break from the many miles of walking I had done that day. As I looked up at the buildings surrounding me, I spotted an optical phenomenon I had never seen in person before: A circumzenithal arc aka Bravais' arc. It's like a rainbow of sorts, except that it's no more than a quarter-circle and horizontal instead of vertical. It's more commonly known as a "smile in the sky" and in this photo, it appears just above the left building, although it's not really visible thanks to the lack of color. It was never my intention for this photo to be presented in B&W, but upon seeing it as such, I've decided that it still works without color, just for a different reason.
