Sullivan Street

Sullivan Street is the primary street through the "business district" of Miami (and also where Mister Cacciatore's is located in Billy Joel's song, Movin out, although there's no such bar in Miami, AZ -- I looked! -- so he must have been referring to another town) . The west end of the street was carved out of the surrounding hillside and it comes right up to the pavement in a few places, as you can see here. I find it hard to believe that more dirt and rock hasn't already sloughed off and ended up in a pile in the street, as the walls are quite steep, but it's my understanding they've been standing this way since at least the 1920s, so I suppose they are reasonably stable by now...
