Thunder and Lightning

So last week, I'm taking Audrey for a walk around the cul-de-sac before the rain starts and as I walk past this house, I realize the light's absolutely perfect, what with the bedroom lights on, the clouds reflecting the city lights, and the lightning flashes highlighting the scene overall.

I hustle home, grab the camera and tripod that happened to be all setup and ready to go (everyone keeps a camera and tripod setup and ready to go, right?), then head back outdoors, only to see a cab waiting in the driveway, lights on, ruining everything ... ugh!

Five minutes later, though, it drives off, so I mosey down the street, set up my camera, and start photographing, much to the puzzlement of the neighbors two houses down, who stand in their yard for several minutes watching me, but say nothing. (It's called art, people!)

Anyway, I am quite pleased with how it turned out and given that this was a 30-second exposure, I'm impressed by how well this camera (Fuji X-Pro1) handled it. In fact, based on this and the results from my NYC trip, I may have to try some more nighttime photography with it ... including resuming work on my project photographing the neighborhood around me.
