Southbound FDR Drive

The last time I visited NYC, I walked south along the greenway on the other side of the FDR, so this time, I decided instead to walk south using the sidewalk. Because the lens I was using has no filter thread, I held an IR filter in front of the camera to increase the length of the exposure in order to make the FDR traffic "disappear" ... lo and behold, it worked, and created a somewhat eery looking scene to boot.

Technical note: I did not add a vignette to this photo; rather, the lens I was using has a bit of a "hot spot" caused by the IR light reflecting between the elements in the lens, which reduces contrast and effectively increases the exposure, causing much the same effect. An ND (neutral-density) filter would have worked better here, but I wasn't carrying one with me, so I used what I had...
