I'd framed a composition and was trying to square-up the building just-so, when this kid came out of nowhere and insinuated himself into my photograph. I managed to quickly recompose and fire off a frame, which was fortunate, as he never looked back at the wall again and although his mother didn't say anything to me, she clearly wasn't very enthusiastic about my photographing him. (This was taken while I was walking the Highline, something I wanted to do since I first learned of it back in the 80s. Alas, it has since been recreated as a park, which was a great idea and very nicely done, but I am certain I would have enjoyed it even more when it was still an abandoned elevated railroad.)
