Cracked mud...

One of the things that caught my eye on our long hike up Wahweap creek to the hoodoos this past Saturday was the amazing variety of the cracks in the mud of the creek bed. There were big cracks, small cracks, deep cracks, and shallow cracks, all of them (IMO, at least) quite photogenic. The reason this mud's so lightly colored -- this is a color photo, incidentally, and not B&W -- is because it was created by the erosion of the chalk-white Entrada Sandstone rock formations nearby...
