Sidewalk sleepers

Photograph enough old buildings at night in downtown Phoenix and you'll eventually come face to face with the homeless. Photograph them late enough at night -- anytime after midnight, it seems -- and by then, most of the homeless you'll encounter will be asleep. I'm usually able to ignore the homeless with the best of them, but this time, for reasons I don't even remotely understand, I felt compelled to tuck a $5 bill under each of their "pillows" and chalk it up as a modeling fee. Imagine their surprise when they awoke in the morning and found they had been visited during the night by the homeless fairy!
